Criticism

Jesus said, “Count yourself blessed every time someone
cuts you down or throws you out, every time someone
smears or blackens your name to discredit me. What it
means is that the truth is too close for comfort and that
that person is uncomfortable.”—Luke 6:22

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize
their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment.
Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness
can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life
a lot easier.”—Luke 6:37

Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself.
It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of
others is a well-known way of escaping detection in
your own crimes and misdemeanors.—Romans 2:1

It matters very little to me what you think of me, even
less where I rank in popular opinion. I don’t even rank
myself. Comparisons in these matters are pointless.
I’m not aware of anything that would disqualify me
from being a good guide for you, but that doesn’t mean
much. The Master makes that judgment.
So don’t get ahead of the Master and jump to conclusions
with your judgments before all the evidence
is in. When he comes, he will bring out in the open
and place in evidence all kinds of things we never even
dreamed of—inner motives and purposes and prayers.
Only then will any one of us get to hear the “Well
done!” of God.—1 Corinthians 4:3-5

God’s people should be bighearted and courteous. It
wasn’t so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and
stubborn, dupes of sin, ordered every which way by
our glands, going around with a chip on our shoulder,
hated and hating back.—Titus 3:2-3

Don’t bad-mouth each other, friends. It’s God’s Word,
his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that
kind of talk. You’re supposed to be honoring the Message,
not writing graffiti all over it.—James 4:11
